On 23 October, Sinfonia Iuventus will be a guest for the first time of the Polish Musical Stage in Lithuania, where alongside Lithuanian artists it will perform during a Gala Concert to mark the 30th anniversary of the “Help for Poles in the East” foundation, as well as the upcoming 104th anniversary of the Regaining of Polish Independence.

The “Help for Poles in the East” foundation implements and supports a range of cultural events aimed at fostering Polish identity, promoting the Polish language and the culture and traditions of the Polish diaspora. The concert programme will include patriotic hymns, a symphony orchestra and a jazz ensemble (also in connection with the upcoming Independence Day), as well as popular pieces in original arrangements by Robert Kosiński, Piotr Dziadkowiec and Rafał Jackiewicz. Rafał Jackiewicz, a saxophonist, composer and conductor, often emphasises how important he believes cooperation between musicians from Poland and Lithuania is, and it was with this thought that he founded the Polish Musical Stage in Lithuania. Joint artistic projects are a good opportunity to deepen the ties between compatriots at home and those living in Lithuania (the Eastern Borderlands). He himself attended a musical conservatory in Vilnius, where he began learning to play the saxophone. In 2019, he graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz , where he studied saxophone with Maciej Sikała and jazz direction with Andrzej Zubek. He has won many national and international competitions and was awarded the Gaude Polonia scholarship by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. During the concert, alongside vocal compositions, listeners will also hear his work Poemat na orkiestrę symfoniczną (“Poem on the symphony orchestra”).

Vocal performances will feature the following outstanding soloists: Ewelina Saszenko, born into a Polish family (like many other Polish families living for many generations in Vilnius), performs a versatile repertoire of popular and jazz music and has won many musical festival competitions. In 2011, she represented Lithuania during the 56th Eurovision Song Contest organised in Düsseldorf. Krzysztof Iwaneczko is a Polish vocalist, pianist, composer and songwriter, a graduate of and lecturer in vocal jazz at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz and winner of the 6th edition of The Voice of Poland (2015). His rich artistic output includes many original works and programmes in various genres, including the show Tryptyk Niepodległa (Triptych Independence, 2018). In 2019, he released the studio album Jestem (I Am).
