The concert is an unique opportunity to listen to a remix of the fameous 9th Symphony by Beethoven composed by Gabriel Prokofiev – Sergiei Prokofiev’s grandson. Due to the 250. anniversary of Beethoven’s birth and the 120. anniversary of Chopin’s birth the programme features works of both composers.

The 24th edition of the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, to be held from 29 March to 10 April 2020 in Warsaw, is special due to the 250th anniversary of the birth of the Festival’s patron in 2020. The central idea of this edition is to show Beethoven as an inspirer of the major trends in the development of 19th- and 20th-century music.

The 13 festival days will feature 10 symphonic concerts (including oratorio concerto and concert performance of Luigi Cherubini’s opera Faniska as part of the “unknown operas” series, the plot of which is set in Poland), 3 piano recitals, and 4 chamber concerts. The best Polish symphonic orchestras (Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under Andrey Boreyko, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra of Katowice under Lawrence Foster, Sinfonia Varsovia under Marek Sedivy, NFM Wrocław Philharmonic under Giancarlo Guerrero) will perform alongside the finest European orchestras, such as the Wiener Akademie under Martin Haselböck and Bamberger Symphoniker under Christoph Eschenbach. Promotion will continue for the young but fully seasoned Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra named after Jerzy Semkow, and for the youngest generation of pianists: Szymon Nehring, Aleksandra Świgut, Krzysztof Książek, Łukasz Krupiński, Adam Goździewski and Tony Siqi Yun (winner of the China International Music Competition).
