The 2nd Tadeusz Baird International Music Festival will take place from 26 to 28 September 2025 at the Zielona Góra Philharmonic – an institution that bears the name of the eminent Polish composer.

The event will feature a symphonic concert, a chamber concert, a piano recital, as well as accompanying events. The theme of this year’s edition is “Baird vs. Neoclassicism” with the neoclassical movement serving as the Festival’s central motif.

The concept behind this year’s edition serves as a kind of counterpoint to the inaugural Festival, where vocal lyricism was the central programmatic focus. The 2nd Tadeusz Baird International Music Festival aims to showcase exclusively instrumental works, with neoclassicism in music as its point of departure. This stylistic current was also present in Baird’s own compositions, and works in this vein will be featured in each of the three concerts.

The Festival will open with a symphonic concert at the Zielona Góra Philharmonic, featuring two orchestras on stage: the Tadeusz Baird Zielona Góra Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the distinguished young maestro Jakub Przybycień, associated with musical centers in Zurich and Barcelona; and the Jerzy Semkow Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Norbert Twórczyński. The concert program includes an unprecedented lineup for Poland - four concertos written for orchestra. The program will feature Alexander Tansman’s Concerto pour orchestre alongside concertos for orchestra by Witold Lutosławski, Tadeusz Baird and Grażyna Bacewicz.

This event will also mark the ceremonial opening of the jubilee season celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Zielona Góra Philharmonic.
