On 15th of March at the Big Aula of Warsaw School of Technology an exceptional charity concert “Big artists to small patients” for the modernization of The Children’s Memorial Health Institute is taking place. The key performers are known worldwide opera soloists – Artur Ruciński (baritone) and Rafał Siwek (bass). Hearing them together at one concert in Poland is an unique experience. The excellent Jerzy Semkow Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, Piotr Sułkowski – the director and the soloists are performing pro bono.
Patrycja Piekutowska – the organizer, originator of the concert and violinist – founded the idea having in mind a personal encounter with the Children’s Memorial Health Institute that considered her son. The artist is looking for partners to manage the renovations of common spaces in the hospital that – unlike other hospital units – have not been redecorated for forty years. Started the search in January, Mrs. Piekutowska have engaged already 12 companies volunteering for the hospital’s renovation, whose generous directors and presidents will be presented at the concert.
The artists performing at three stages high scene built by Athletic company, will be illuminated thanks to the well-known Aram company while the concert’s leaflets and tickets will be printed by Polski Druk Publishing, all pro bono.
The concert is taking place at the Big Aula of The Warsaw University of Technology that has kindly agreed on being its co-organizer. Thanks to receipts from the tickets, sold at 250 zlotys each, the renovation of the ambulance-bay is starting in late spring.
Patrycja Piekutowska, together with Wojciech S. Wocław, will be announcing the concert filled with well known arias and duets from Donizetti’s, Rossini’s, Verdi’s and Bizet’s operas performed by exceptional soloists Artur Ruciński (baritone) and Rafał Siwek (bass).
The symphonic compositions, among which particularly popular Ravel’s Bolero, will be performed by the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, founded in 2007 on the initiative of Jerzy Semkow, one of the most prominent Polish conductors. It is a state artistic institution, composed of the most talented graduates and students of art music academies under 30 years of age. The orchestra has played and realized recordings with many renowned conductors and soloists both in Poland and abroad.
Piotr Sułkowski –  the General and Artistic Director of the Warmia and Masuria Philharmonic and the conductor of the concert – holds an extensive opera experience gained during his service as a Conductor and later as the Artistic Director of the Cracow Opera and the Music Director of the Wildwood Opera Festival in Little Rock, Arkansas (USA). The co-founder of the Cracow Chamber Opera teaches conducting at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Music.
