Artistic Council of the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra has been appointed!

We are pleased to announce that an Artistic Council of the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra has been appointed, made up of outstanding representatives of the world of music.

The Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra is a national institution of culture established in 2007 by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The Artistic Council’s tasks will be to support the Orchestra’s work and to define the direction of its artistic development. In doing so, the Council will implement the assumptions formulated by one of Poland’s most eminent conductors, Maestro Jerzy Semkow, the originator and initiator of the Orchestra. The mission of Sinfonia Iuventus is to create the best possible conditions for artistic development of orchestra musicians, by offering them professional education under the supervision of outstanding experts in the field of arts.

Ms Anna Kościelna has been Director of Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra since September 2015.

Jacek Kaspszyk

An outstanding Polish conductor. For many years he worked as director of the Great Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio and Television in Katowice, of Teatr Wielki – the National Opera in Warsaw, of the Philharmonic Hall in Wrocław. A winner of the prestigious Herbert von Karajan competition. He conducted Europe and Asia’s best orchestras including Bayerische Rundfunk, RSO Berlin, Orchestre Nationale de France, Wiener Symphoniker, as well as Philharmonic Hall Orchestras in Oslo, Stockholm, Rotterdam and Prague. At present, he is artistic director of the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw.

 

Prof. dr hab. Tomasz Miczka

He is a pedagogue, a professor of musical arts, an oboist. A graduate of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in the oboe section. Apart from being an orchestra musician, he plays in concerts as a soloist and a chamber musician. He also performed on several CD recordings and on archive recordings. He started his teaching career in 1981 as a teacher at the State Secondary School of Music in Katowice. In the years 2005-2008, he held the office of deputy vice chancellor of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music for artistic affairs, student affairs and international cooperation. Currently, he is President of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. He is Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Polish Arts Universities (KRUA).

Michail Jurowski

An eminent Russian conductor. He spent his childhood in the company of such significant figures of musical life as David Oistrakh, Mstislav Rostropovich, Leonid Kogan, Emil Gilels, Aram Khachaturian and Dmitri Shostakovich. He conducted symphony and opera orchestras in the world’s best concert halls. He worked as musical director and chief conductor at Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, musical director and chief conductor at Norddeutsche Philharmonie and Volkstheater in Rostock, musical supervisor at the Opera in Leipzig, permanent visiting conductor at the Berlin-based Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester, permanent visiting conductor at Deutsche Oper in Berlin, first visiting conductor at Tonkünstler-Orchester in Austria and first conductor at WDR Rundfunkorchester in Cologne. In 2001, the recording of works by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov performed by the Berlin-based Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester conducted by Mikhail Yurovsky received a Grammy Awards nomination.

Łukasz Borowicz

Poland’s top young generation conductor. At the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw he received his doctoral degree in conducting under the supervision of Antoni Wit. In the years 2002-2006, he was assistant to Antoni Wit and later to Kazimerz Kord. For many years he held the post of artistic director of the Polish Radio Orchestra. During concerts and recordings with the PRO he performed many forgotten Polish operas. He conducted major orchestras all over Europe. A winner of Paszport Polityki (2008) and the Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej award (2011). His discography includes over 65 titles. Since 2006, Łukasz Borowicz has been first visiting conductor of the Philharmonic Hall Orchestra in Poznań.

Przemysław Fiugajski

Przemysław Fiugajski – conductor and playwright, graduate of the Academy of Music in Krakow, holder of scholarship granted by the Minister of Culture for several times. His interests in the field of conducting focus on music of the classicism era and contemporary music. He performed with most Polish orchestras and with numerous bands which play contemporary music. Since 2003, he has worked at the Warsaw Chamber Opera where he took part in preparing the performance of over a dozen operas. He performed during recordings made by Polish Radio, Polish Television, Polish Audiovisual Publishing House and “Dux” record company. CD’s with his participation were winners of “Fryderyk 2009” and “Supersonic 2010” (Luxembourg) awards. His plays were staged in theatres in Wroclaw, Warsaw and Częstochowa.
