Alejandro Núñez Allauca “Missa Andina”

Performance of Missa Andina by Alejandro Núñez Allauca at 7 December 2018 at the Archcathedral of St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist in Lublin. Featuring Sinfonia Iuventus under the baton of Marek Wroniszewski, soloists: Justyna Stępień, Dorota Lachowicz, Rafał Grozdew, Dominik Opaliński, organist Piotr Grinholc and the Władysław Skoraczewski Artos Choir.

Peruvian composer and conductor Alejandro Núñez Allauca (born in 1943) has given concerts in many countries and eventually settled down in Italy, where his music gained particular popularity, but he never forgot about his Peruvian roots, often styling the characteristic motifs of his homeland’s music. He expressed them very interestingly in one of his most famous and magnificent compositions, the Missa Andina (Andean Mass), composed in 1997 as a tribute to John Paul II. Núñez’ composition is a “canonical” approach to a full Latin mass, referring to the great and ancient traditions of the form, but also with interesting, sublime stylisations of music from the picturesque Andes.

After an enthusiastically received polish premiere of the work by the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra in March 2018 in Warsaw, we invite you to join us for another performance, this time in Lublin. The performance will feature excellent soloists: Justyna Stępień, Dorota Lachowicz, Rafał Grozdew and Dominik Opaliński, with Piotr Grinholc on the organ, and the Władysław Skoraczewski Artos Choir in impressive parts. The concert will be led by Marek Wroniszewski, a talented conductor of the young generation, recognised by the jury as the best Polish participant of the 10th International Grzegorz Fitelbelrg Competition in Katowice.
