Sinfonia Iuvntus kameralnie

ll
On 28 October 2016, the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the oldest and largest university of music in Poland, will resound to the great 20th-century chamber music. Chamber ensembles of the Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus will perform the works by Francis Poulenc and Arnold Schönberg, and will present the world premiere of a new work by Piotr Wróbel under the baton of Andrzej Borzym Junior.

In the first part of the concert, a half passionate and half melancholic Sextet Op. 100 by Poulenc with perverse and grotesque part I (Allegro vivace) will harmonize with a subtle beauty and rich neoromantic expression of theVerklärte Nacht, Op. 4 string sextet by Schönberg, an Austrian pioneer of dodecaphony.

The evening will conclude in a world premiere of a new work entitled Brass Symphony composed in summer 2016 by Piotr Wróbel, an arranger, a bass trombonist and a tuba player.

“This is a broadly-written attempt at composing a several-piece form for 14-person ensemble of brass instruments enriched with percussion instruments,” says the composer.

The work is divided into five parts – Faith, Fight, Catharsis, Unconcern and Satisfaction, of which the composer himself says that “they reflect human pursuit of change, both at a trivial, everyday level and at the level of important life goals.” This is the first symphony by this composer, and he hopes that it is not the last one.

The work was created with the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage within the “Collections” programme – the “Composition Commissions” priority, implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance.
