(…) When an artist, who has created music for a long time, starts to cooperate with a traditional concert band, you can never be sure of the final result. The encounter of these two distant worlds, however, turned out to be a successful experiment. The French flute player gave a lot of positive energy to the orchestra, which resulted in a brilliant performance of Mendelssohn’s 'Italian’ symphony with bravura. The interpretation emphasized the aspects of tradition of the 18th century, which Mendelssohn knew and treated as a point of reference.
An even greater attraction of the evening were the works of Carl Reinecke of the 19th century, forgotten today… Kossenko performed Ballade op 288 for flute and orchestra with lightness and ease. He was able to impose the same upon the orchestra, thanks to which the music positively glittered with the changing moods – from melancholy to playfulness…"
