17 July 2016 – Festival of Polish Music

All States of Music. The Lucky Twelve

“(…) To conclude the festival, St. Catherine church brimful of people resounded to the internationally recognised, iconic work of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki – Symphony No. 3 known as The Symphony of Sorrowful Songs. The meditative and ritual atmosphere was created thanks to the Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus, conducted with sensitivity by Maciej Tworek. The musicians dealt particularly well with the canon from Górecki’s work. Aleksandra Zamojska, a singer of European acclaim, was the soloist. She performed the difficult vocalises with her resonant and rich soprano. She gave a moving performance in the third part, which was a mother’s lament over a lost son. I hope that we will have more opportunities to listen to this artist in Poland. (…)”
